Freedom

SBS Swiss Business School understands the environment in which people share their ideas and opinions.

Academic Freedom is part of the Swiss constitution and has three dimensions: Research freedom—Teaching Freedom and Learning freedom. SBS respects these values and they are incorporated in our andragogical philosophy. All these values are incorporated in Faculty and Student Handbooks.

LINKING APPLIED RESEARCH AND TEACHING

SBS Swiss Business School has established an applied research strategy . FTE Faculty Members are encouraged to publish research articles with the support of the SBS Research Center.

SBS Swiss Business School focuses on applied research in the following areas:

  • Demography and Globalization
  • Zurich Airport Region
  • International Entrepreneurship/Education
  • International Management

The Faculty and Students are involved in research projects and it helps them in their further professional careers. The Faculty have committed themselves, next to their teaching assignments, also to conduct research and assist in applied research projects. The findings of their research and projects are incorporated in their teaching classes! SBS is the publisher of the JABR journal. The combination of research and teaching supports the future careers of graduates- both in business practice and in research. Yearly, SBS publishes the JABR Journal.

SBS conducts as well internal research and surveys to support the quality assurance policy. All academic works go through a plagiarism test to avoid academic fraud.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT

The” Me too” campaign made it clear. Coming too close, is going too far!

SBS Swiss Business School promotes an environment of diversity and inclusion. We are fighting against any form of sexual harassment and discrimination based upon gender. It is our task to protect all stakeholders and we don’t accept any wrongdoing in this matter.

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

SBS Park, the campus building of the institution, is constructed to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable development is a global challenge and SBS Swiss Business School wants to share the knowledge and experiences in this field with its students through teaching and research.

SBS is committed to integrate this topic into the curriculum/research and approved certain principles:

  • Recycling: we recycle PET bottles, and separate the garbage with special containers in the classrooms and offices.
  • Staff, Faculty and Students should take the train if possible, instead of an airplane.
  • SBS promotes virtual or video conferences, since it has less environmental impact than making a physical journey.
  • Hotels should be near the event, and easy to reach by public transport.
  • If SBS organizes events, waste of food should be avoided under all circumstances.

UK COMPLIANCE

  • Key SBS employees (staff, faculty) have taken the prevent awareness online training.
  • SBS has no Swiss legal permission to accept students below 18 years old.
  • SBS is committed to the UK Modern Slavery Act (2015). SBS has included in its standard terms and conditions a number of clauses to ensure that the suppliers we do business with understand the risks of modern slavery in supply chains and take appropriate action to identify and address those risks.

SBS OMBUDSPERSON

The SBS Ombudsperson serves those who, due to personal issues or because of a specific conflict, seek an alternative to the traditional internal communication. The Ombudsperson becomes not an advocate for one side or the other in a dispute, but an advocate for a fair and just decision. All SBS students or employees can consult the ombudsperson.
