SBS Governance

SBS Swiss Business School operates by an institutional and academic governance framework executing the Vision and Mission of SBS:

  • The Supervisory Board (SB), presided by the President, is the central authority in the institution. It is responsible for directing and controlling the business school. The SB works aligned with the Board of Trustees (BT), which consists solely of the shareholders of SBS Swiss Business School GmbH.
  • The role of the Faculty Academic Board (FAB) is to direct and control academic matters within the institution. It meets regularly and is headed by the Head of Faculty. It oversees and monitors academic policies and procedures, academic standards, and quality assurance, in cooperation with the Quality of Education Board (QEB).
  • The Research Advisory Board (RAB) monitors and reviews the Strategic Research Plan of SBS, which is a central element of the Vision and Mission of SBS.
  • The involvement of students in the decision-making process is important. Students are represented in the Student Council (SC) and the Faculty Academic Board (FAB).
  • Alumni of SBS are included via the Alumni Board (AB). The AB coordinates alumni events and informs about changing needs at the workplace to improve the curricula.
  • The Business Advisory Board (BAB) comprises industry and educational specialists. The BAB ensures that the institution’s curriculum entails industry-needed skills.
  • The Ombudsperson is an independent and impartial official who advocates for fairness, justice, and good governance. The Ombudsperson of SBS is available for internal stakeholders.

AY 2025-26 Goals

Our Goals are aligned with our 2025-2029 Strategic plan, which is to:

Continue to establish SBS Swiss Business School as a recognized European business school with:

  • Strong, evidence-based claims on graduate outcomes, internationality, and sustainability.
  • A clear reputation among employers and academics as a practical, international, future-oriented business school.

For the 25-26 Academic Year, our goals are to support the Strategic Plan by expanding research, maintaining, and exceeding accreditation requirements with IACBE, ACBSP for program accreditation and with the Swiss Accreditation Council and the British Accreditation Council for institution accreditation.

Goal 1. IMPLEMENT

As per our changes to the Vision and Mission of SBS, we aim to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all aspects of the University. This will be through both the assessment of students’ learnings and how they remain focussed on the critical aspects of learning and creative foundations of knowledge acquisition. The same approach will be taken within course offerings and how the use of AI can be utilised and enhanced in business applications. We are excited to introduce our MSc AI for Business in 2026.

Goal 2. INCREASE

SBS continues to increase its role in research, with an expansion and reach of the successful Journal of Applied Business Research (JABR), together with a successful annual scientific conference focussed on industry collaboration and involvement. Our approach to research is firmly rooted in practical application, responding directly to the needs of the professional world. SBS remains committed to fostering research that generates new, impactful knowledge and solutions to complex global challenges, addressing practical issues in collaboration with stakeholders. This focus aligns with Switzerland’s emphasis on innovation, where applied research is both a legal obligation and a key driver of the nation’s competitiveness (Article 11, FHSV; Article 31, HEdA).

Goal 3. GROW

SBS involvement with corporate partners will expand in the years ahead, both with local and international organisations.

The school has consistently offered professional development courses and seminars, and our annual conference has a strong focus on contemporary business issues. The coming year will continue that dedication. For the 2026 academic year we will be offering a dedicated MSc in AI for Business, which will provide students with the tools skills and knowledge to adapt and influence the ever-changing world of business.

Goal 4. EXCEL

SBS has always prided itself in ensuring quality in all aspects of school administration. SBS was one of the first business schools in Switzerland to achieve IACBE and ACBSP accreditation. We continued to be the lead school with the first British Accreditation Council recognition.

SBS has always stressed excellence in administration and operations. BS was one of the first Swiss schools to sign and adopt the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals. Gender and racial equality are of continuing importance.

In 2025, we continued to achieve and uphold and achieve IACBE and BAC accreditation via formal acknowledgement of our programs and structures. In 2026 this will continue via monitoring by ACBSP and Swiss Accreditation.

The Challenge

The coming year promises to be another great one for SBS. Let’s all work together…students, faculty, and staff…to implement, increase, grow, and excel. And, as the Academic Dean always reminds all of us, ” Keep on having learning fun.”
