Sustainability at SBS Swiss Business School
SBS Swiss Business School is committed to promoting sustainability through education, applied research, community engagement, and international collaboration.
We encourage an informed and critical understanding of environmental challenges and their connections to culture, economic systems, gender, social equity, and power dynamics. As an international business school, SBS recognizes the importance of preparing students to address sustainability challenges in today's global business environment. Our approach reflects the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encourages responsible decision-making and long-term thinking.
We encourage students, faculty, and staff to engage in sustainability-related activities that promote interdisciplinary collaboration, environmental awareness, and efforts to make our campus and surrounding community more environmentally responsible.
Promoting Sustainable Development at SBS
The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets, addressing the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
SBS Swiss Business School recognizes the importance of these global goals and is committed to integrating sustainability across its academic activities and institutional operations.
SBS promotes sustainable development through three key areas:
- Research: Conducting applied research that contributes to a better understanding of sustainability challenges and supports the development of practical solutions.
- Teaching and Learning: Equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives needed to understand and respond to sustainability challenges in business and society.
- Institutional Operations: Encouraging the responsible use of environmental, economic, and social resources in the school's daily activities and decision-making.
SBS Swiss Business School Recognized in 2025 SDG Accord Report as Switzerland’s Sole Institutional Signatory
SBS Swiss Business School continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing sustainability in higher education.
According to the SDG Accord Progress Report 2025, published by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), SBS Swiss Business School was the only Swiss higher education institution listed among the institutional signatories reporting on their progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
