During the second semester, CAP students visit 10 companies across various industries, gaining firsthand insights into their inner workings.
On January 29th, our CAP students had an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at Zurich Hauptbahnhof—Switzerland’s busiest train station and a key hub of the SBB transport network. This visit provided a rare glimpse into the operational complexity of one of Europe’s most efficient railway systems, offering invaluable lessons in infrastructure management, logistics, and customer experience.
Guided by SBB professionals, students explored restricted operational areas, learning how teams coordinate train schedules, ensure safety standards, and enhance passenger experiences in a fast-paced transport hub. They also discovered the station’s rich history, role in Swiss economic growth, and upcoming developments that will shape the future of mobility.
One of the most memorable moments? A breathtaking sunset view from the top of the main hall, overlooking the River Limmat and the bustling Bahnhofstrasse—a perfect backdrop to reflect on the intersection of tradition, innovation, and efficiency in Swiss public transport.
With 10 company visits each semester, the CAP program is an essential part of the SBS learning experience, helping students build valuable industry connections and develop a deeper understanding of operational excellence across multiple sectors.
