This course builds on the product differentiation and market focus concepts developed in MKT315 Strategic Marketing.  This course completes the discussion of the three forms of obtaining competitive advantage with a focuses on strategic options available to compete on overall low cost. Approaching strategy as a philosophy allows incorporation of understanding and managing change and in developing the organizational culture needed to cope with the change.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain the theoretical basis of strategic management.
  • Explain and evaluate methods of obtaining competitive advantage.
  • Assess corporate strategy from cases and news articles.
  • Generate recommended strategy options based on the assessments.
  • Describe change management techniques for implementing recommended strategy options.
  • Evaluate corporate culture in organizations and its role in change management.
