In business, quality is both a form and a function.  While quality can be included in the business process and measured at each stage of the value chain, it is also an intangible part of firm and product image.  This course discusses the changes for managers in quality philosophy during the past 40 years, as quality has undergone a rapid change in nomenclature from Quality Management to Total Quality Management to Six Sigma.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Define quality management
  • Discuss the history of quality management
  • Select the appropriate statistical control chart analysis of quality problems
  • Create acceptance sampling plans
  • Create and analyze reliability experiments
  • Assess the sources of quality problems in the production process
  • Formulate solutions to correct quality design and/or production problems
